MENINGOCOCCAL IN WANAKA
As you are aware, there have been two recent confirmed cases of Meningococcal disease in senior students from Mt Aspiring College.
If you are concerned about someone who has a flu-like illness, please call the medical centre (443 0725) and ask to speak to one of our practice nurses, who will refer you to the doctor if necessary. Symptoms to be aware of include a very sore throat or cough, a high temperature, a headache and feeling generally quite unwell.
If you feel fine, but are concerned about having had close extended social interaction with either of the hospitalised students, you should either attend the meeting being held at the College this evening at 5.30, or you should call Susan Moore at Public Health South in Queenstown on 03 450 9155.
