Appointments

Clinic Hours

Aspiring Medical Centre has clinics Monday – Friday, year round.

We also share a roster with Wanaka Medical Centre to ensure that there is a weekend clinic operating and an after hours doctor available 24/7.

MONDAY TO FRIDAY
8.30am-6pm

SATURDAY & SUNDAY
The duty medical centre is open 9am – 12 noon and 4pm – 6pm every weekend.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
During the Christmas and New Year public holidays and at Easter the urgent duty clinic is open 9am – 6pm. On other public holidays the hours are 9am – 12 noon and 4pm – 6pm. Call 443 0725 at any time.

AFTER HOURS
We have a doctor on call after hours every day of the year. Our telephone diverts to an experienced nurse triage team who will assess your problem, give advice and call the doctor and/or ambulance if that is required.

Making an Appointment

You can make an appointment by phoning 443-0725 during clinic hours. Standard appointments are for 15 minutes. If you are a registered patient, then you can also book your appointments online, using ConnectMed. Please click here to find out more.

Longer appointments

If you feel that you may need longer or have several things to discuss, then please book a double appointment. Extended appointments are needed for:

  • Multiple problems
  • Immigration medicals
  • Travel consultations
  • Minor Surgery
  • Sports medicine assessments
  • Some mental health problems
  • Some insurance medicals
  • Pre-employment medicals

Please discuss your needs with our reception staff when you make your appointment. There is an additional charge for longer appointments.

Urgent Appointments

During clinic hours we will always do our best to fit in urgent cases. Please tell reception if you are seeking urgent care. It may be helpful to discuss the urgency of your problem with one of our nurses. House calls are available if necessary. Sometimes care for urgent problems can be given more effectively at the medical centre. We will discuss the best plan with you. After hours our phone diverts directly to an experienced nurse triage team who can assist you and call the duty doctor and/or ambulance if required.

Cancellations

Please call us if you cannot attend your appointment. Giving us at least two hours notice will allow us to reuse your appointment time. If you fail to attend appointments without notifying us, you may be charged a fee.

Waiting Times

We make every effort to run on time, but unfortunately unexpected emergencies and complex problems will sometimes cause delays. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Please check in with a receptionist on arrival. They may be able to estimate any waiting time. Alternatively, you may want to ring just before you come in.

Repeat Prescriptions

These can be done for registered patients only. If you are a visitor or we have not prescribed the item before for you, you will need to see a doctor.

If you are a registered patient on regular medication, recommended practice is that we supply 3 months medication at a time and need to see you every second time (ie every 6 months). This allows for monitoring of your condition and the appropriateness of treatment.

You can order a repeat prescription by phoning the receptionist during clinic hours. Please

  • state exactly the names of medications you want
  • allow 24 hours before you collect the prescription
  • check your prescription when you collect it.

If you are a registered patient, then you can also request repeat prescriptions online, using ConnectMed. Please click here to find out more.

Test Results

Your test results are important. We will inform you about routine test results by text or by letter, but we will phone with urgent results. If you wish to receive your results by text (which is much quicker than mail) please ensure that we have your up-to-date mobile number. Please ring the nurse if you do not receive notification of your results within 2 weeks.
