Sexual Health Clinic

Our Sexual Health and Family Planning Clinic runs on Tuesdays from 3.30 pm – 5.45 pm. It is a “drop in” clinic and no appointment is necessary. Please note that the practice closes at 6 pm, so the last clinic appointments are at 5.45 pm.

Consultations with our specially trained, experienced and knowledgeable staff are subsidised, but in most cases some fees apply.

The clinic is FREE to people under 22 years who are enrolled in a GP practice within the WellSouth PHO area. (This includes Wanaka, Cromwell, Alexandra, Queenstown, Dunedin, Invercargill, Oamaru & surrounds).

If you are enrolled within one of these WellSouth areas but are 22 or over then a $40 fee applies as we do not receive a subsidy for your visit.

If you are a Kiwi from anywhere else in New Zealand then there is also a fee of $40.

Overseas visitors (of any age)  are  welcome to attend the clinic and a charge of $60 applies, but there will also be a charge for lab fees if you require laboratory tests.

The clinic provides people of any gender with accessible and confidential advice and treatment.

You can attend the clinic for

  • Contraception
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease checks
  • Cervical smears
  • Pregnancy tests
  • ECP (“morning after pill”)
  • General advice

This clinic has been operating for over twelve years and is staffed by nurses Sue Evans and Jackie Davidson, with support from Dr Jayne Davies. Sue and Jackie have undertaken specialised training in this area and between them have a wealth of knowledge and experience. We really value the work that they do to promote safe sexual practices and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted disease in our community.
