Travel Medicine

Dr Jayne Davies has a post-graduate Diploma of Travel Medicine. This involved over 4 years of part time study including travel and tropical medicine, wilderness medicine and refugee/migrant medicine.

Having grabbed every opportunity to travel herself, Jayne enjoys advising other travellers on the health aspects of their planned trip, with the aim of avoiding medical disasters.

Over an extended consult she will discuss all the vaccinations you may require – from the common ones such as hepatitis A and typhoid to rabies and yellow fever. (Jayne is an accredited Yellow Fever vaccine provider). She will prescribe appropriate vaccines to protect yourself against these illnesses and provide up-to-date advice on when and how to avoid bites and what to do if you become unwell.

A medical kit to take with you is also recommended – she will talk to you about the commonly encountered problems amongst Kiwi travellers abroad and what you can take with you to manage these, allowing you to continue on your journey.

A specialist travel consultation is longer than a standard consultation, so please tell reception that you want a travel consult when you book. It is also helpful if you download and complete this questionnaire and bring it with you to your appointment or send it through to us prior to your appointment.
